The Grand Finale of My African Journey I Cape Town I South Africa – EP. 158
EDITORIAL SUMMARY
This closing Africa episode brings a three-year overland ride to an end in Cape Town. Its final stretch pairs time with local riders with the practical send-off of the motorcycle.
About this film
Part of onherbike’s Africa, Round The World series, the 22-minute film is the last episode from Africa. The journey began in April 2017, when the rider left Australia for a solo trip around the world on a BMW F800GS, without a fixed destination or duration in mind. Here, the focus is on bringing the African chapter to a close: meeting riders in Cape Town, sharing the journey at a presentation, and preparing Chillie for onward transport.
The journey
After three years on the continent, the overland ride finishes in Cape Town. The farewell includes a presentation at BMW Motorrad Donford, where the rider spends time with local motorcyclists, followed by a social ride with BMW Motorrad Club. The episode then turns to the logistics of departure, as Chillie is crated and sent onward with Econo Trans. These scenes frame the end of the Africa journey through both a gathering of riders and the preparations needed to move the motorcycle on.
What to expect
