Only Motorcycle Travelers Know This Kind of Hospitality…

Pedro Mota 27:57 February 2021

EDITORIAL SUMMARY

A search for a way around a difficult stretch of the Trans Euro Trail brings Pedro Mota into a village where local hospitality changes the shape of the day. The ride continues through Portugal, from an unexpected lunch stop to a pass through Évora and a night ride into the Algarve.

About this film

Part of the Europe – Netherlands to Portugal series, this 27-minute film follows a motorcycle journey in Portugal. Its story moves between the practical demands of riding the Trans Euro Trail and an unplanned encounter in a village. A need to replenish water leads to an invitation to lunch, making local hospitality a central part of the ride rather than a planned destination.

The journey

The Trans Euro Trail’s steep section prompts Mota to look for an off-road route around it. He stops for water at a fountain in Pé da Serra, where a group of Portuguese villagers preparing lambs invite him to join them for lunch. After eating, he continues towards Loulé, passing through Évora for a brief look at its Roman temple. The day’s riding carries on after dark, ending in the Algarve. The route’s detour, meal and onward travel give the episode its simple rhythm: a challenge on the trail, a welcome pause, then more miles south.

What to expect

  • Motorcycle travel along the Trans Euro Trail in Portugal
  • An unexpected village lunch after a stop to refill water
  • A ride via Évora towards Loulé and the Algarve
