VALLEY OF THE GODS & MOKI DUGWAY: Utah’s BEST ROADS with a motorcycle and STUNNING MUST VISITS
EDITORIAL SUMMARY
This episode follows a motorcycle ride through two distinctive landscapes in southeastern Utah: the switchbacks of Moki Dugway and the red-rock formations of Valley of the Gods. Both stops form part of Got2Go’s cross-country journey across the United States.
About this film
Part of the USA CROSS-COUNTRY series, the film features Lea Rieck riding a Yamaha Ténéré 700 with her three-person travel group. The larger journey spans 9,000 kilometres, 13 states and 28 days, from Los Angeles to Miami; this episode focuses on a day in Utah. The account combines the riding with practical stops around Mexican Hat and Bluff, including a breakfast at Twin Rocks Cafe.
The journey
The group rides the Moki Dugway switchbacks before visiting Valley of the Gods. Built in 1958 to transport mined materials, Moki Dugway climbs a road cut into the hillside, with views of the valley, San Juan River Canyon and Monument Valley. The Valley of the Gods route is a 27-kilometre dirt and gravel road running between Highways 163 and 261, through open country marked by buttes and sandstone pinnacles. The film also follows the group to Bluff after a stay in Mexican Hat. Its account of the day includes a return to the switchbacks before the valley visit, as the rider wanted to experience the road again with more energy.
What to expect
