Got2Go – 90.000 Kilometers AROUND THE WORLD on a motorcycle SOLO

Got2Go 22:57 May 2021

EDITORIAL SUMMARY

This film looks back on an 18-month solo motorcycle journey around the world, covering 50 countries and 90,000 kilometres. It presents the ride as an experience of changing perspective, with highs and lows along the way.

About this film

Lea Rieck, a journalist and author, recounts setting out alone after leaving her job and familiar surroundings. The film offers a view of parts of her journey and considers what she learned while travelling. Her account is framed by the challenge and freedom of crossing the world by motorcycle, and by the encounters and experiences that shaped the trip. The journey took place from May 2016 to November 2017; the film runs for 22 minutes and 57 seconds.

The journey

The route carried Rieck past high mountains in Pakistan and temples in India, onward to Australia, and into the deserts of Chile and Bolivia, before returning to Germany. Her description recalls both difficult moments and rewarding ones, including the uncertainty of travelling alone and the need to keep moving after setbacks. The film’s international scope brings together very different landscapes and stages of a long-distance motorcycle journey, from South Asia to South America and back to Europe.
