DENMARK TO SWITZERLAND: A visit to BANDHOLM, ÖRESUND BRIDGE & the GRAND FINALE of EXPEDITION NORTH
EDITORIAL SUMMARY
This final instalment of EXPEDITION NORTH follows the motorcycle journey from Denmark back to Switzerland. Along the way, the route crosses the Öresund Bridge, pauses in Bandholm and continues south through Germany.
About this film
The film closes a journey of nearly two months through some of Europe’s northern and remote places. The wider expedition covered 12,000 kilometres across six countries: Switzerland, Germany, Denmark, Norway, Finland and Sweden. This episode focuses on the return leg, with the travel partner accompanying Lea Rieck. It also touches on a practical concern around border crossings: the travel partner’s motorcycle had a cardboard licence.
The journey
The return begins with the Öresund crossing between Sweden and Denmark. The bridge runs to Peberholm, where the route continues through the Drogden Tunnel to Amager. In Denmark, worsening weather and work calls lead the pair to seek a hotel early. They visit Bandholm, a coastal town on Lolland known for its warehouses and yellow half-timbered houses, before taking a ferry from Lolland to Fehmarn in Germany. From there, they head towards Switzerland, stopping overnight near Frankfurt. The film also looks back over the places visited during the expedition.
