The Andes Just Keep Getting Better | S3 EP27
EDITORIAL SUMMARY
A day of high-altitude riding carries this episode of ADVcharlie’s round-the-world motorcycle journey into the Peruvian Andes. Mountain scenery shares the frame with changing weather and a persistent fuel-bladder leak.
About this film
Part of Season 3’s South America riding series, the film follows a day on a modified KTM 790 Adventure S. The ride comes after a couple of days spent waiting out bad weather and working on the bike, before setting out to cross another high mountain pass. Its focus is the experience of exploring Peru’s mountains by motorcycle, with the day’s practical complications woven into the journey rather than treated as a separate subject.
The journey
The route passes through a national park and across scenery that includes snow-capped peaks, glaciers and alpine lakes. It also goes through a road tunnel described as believed to be the highest in South America, at more than 4,736 metres above sea level. Conditions change along the way, with hail and shifting temperatures. Meanwhile, a leaking fuel bladder continues to cause trouble, leaving things wet and smelling of fuel. The episode places these challenges alongside the mountain crossing, showing both the landscape and the demands of riding through it.
