About this film
Part of the series “Riding My Moto In South America,” this is an instalment in an ongoing motorcycle journey aboard a KTM 790 Adventure. Its focus is the transition into Peru: sorting out a SIM card and cash, getting oriented, and adjusting to unfamiliar road conditions. The change of country brings both everyday travel tasks and a new riding environment, before the journey turns towards the mountain roads.
The journey
The previous episode covered the border crossing from Ecuador into Peru; here, the rider gets his first experience of riding in Peru. In town, tuk-tuks and motorbikes share the roads with drivers who appear unconcerned by traffic lights, making the traffic a striking contrast to what he expected. After leaving the town behind, the route heads towards 117 kilometres of dirt roads in the mountains of northern Peru. The episode centres on that first stretch of riding in the country and the uncertainty of taking on new roads.
What to expect
- Arrival routines: finding a SIM card, cash and bearings.
- Busy town traffic with tuk-tuks and motorbikes.
- A planned 117-kilometre dirt-road ride into northern Peru’s mountains.
