EDITORIAL SUMMARY

About this film
Part of Itchy Boots’ fifth season, this 18-minute film pairs a route across Namibia with two points of interest along the way. The horses are a focus of the journey: the episode looks for feral Namib horses that have adapted to life in the desert. It also visits a historical landmark associated with Portuguese navigator Bartholomeus Diaz. The result is a travel episode shaped by both the landscape and the stories connected to it.
The journey
The ride begins in Aus and heads toward Lüderitz. En route, the search for the feral horses offers a wildlife focus within the Namibian desert setting. The episode also checks out the Diaz cross, at the place where Bartholomeus Diaz passed while travelling toward the Cape of Good Hope. These encounters give the route a clear pair of themes: the horses’ adaptation to a harsh environment and a landmark linked to an earlier journey along the coast.
