[S2 – Eps. 10] Incredible WILDLIFE in ARGENTINA!
EDITORIAL SUMMARY
While waiting in Viedma for a replacement number plate, this episode turns to wildlife exploration in Argentina. The ride out to see parakeets and sea lions ends with a dirt-road return across open landscape.
About this film
Part of Itchy Boots’ second season, Patagonia to Peru, the film follows a day away from the motorcycle journey’s usual forward progress. The wait for a new number plate in Viedma provides the reason to explore nearby wildlife sites. At the first, thousands of endangered burrowing parakeets gather at their largest breeding site. Their calls fill the place as flocks circle around the cliffs, making the birds’ flight a central sight of the visit.
The journey
The day also includes a visit to a sea lion colony described as containing 6,000 animals. The parakeets and sea lions bring very different sounds and scenes to this stretch of the journey. Afterwards, the ride back to Viedma follows a dirt road through Argentina’s vast, open landscapes. Rather than covering a long route between distant destinations, this episode stays focused on local exploration during the wait, with the return ride providing its motorcycle-travel frame.
What to expect
- Large flocks of burrowing parakeets flying around the cliffs.
- A visit to a 6,000-animal sea lion colony.
- A dirt-road ride back to Viedma across open Argentine landscapes.
