About this film

Filmed, edited and presented by Marshall and Fugard, the documentary combines the motorcycle trip with a look at locations highlighted by the route book. An early segment introduces the series and includes a discussion of how to use its route books. The film is part of BCSA – Back Country Southern Africa and is the first of a two-part travel documentary.

The journey

The itinerary takes in De Hoop Nature Reserve, Gysmanshoek Pass and the Malgas Pontoon, followed by Bonniedale Holiday Farm and Wilderness Bushcamp. Further stops include Old Montagu Pass, Old Cape Road (Kom se Pad) and Outeniqua Mountain Lodge. At Storms River Village, the film features a Segway outing and Tsitsikamma Backpackers, then visits Storms River Mouth and its suspension footbridge. The journey reaches Elephant House and Addo Elephant National Park.
