I Wasn’t Sure I’d Get Through This… | S3 EP28
EDITORIAL SUMMARY
A southbound ride through Peru’s Andes turns into a demanding test of route and conditions. Following a GPX track, ADVcharlie faces high mountain passes, snow, freezing temperatures and uncertainty over a damaged bridge.
About this film
This Season 3 episode follows part of ADVcharlie’s motorcycle journey from Alaska to Argentina, riding a modified KTM 790 Adventure S. The day begins with a straightforward plan: head south and ride a GPX track he has been given. The route’s possible obstruction by a broken bridge makes the plan uncertain, while the changing conditions add further challenges. The account centres on the ride itself, including a crash and the question of whether the route can be completed. It is one day in an ongoing South American motorcycle journey, shaped by the decisions and uncertainties that arise along the way.
The journey
In Peru, the ride climbs to the highest altitude ADVcharlie has reached so far, crossing mountain passes above 4,500 metres. Snow, freezing temperatures and rain contrast with the scorching temperatures of the valleys and the dramatic Andean scenery. Ice warnings appear on the motorcycle’s dashboard. The track leads into a remote area where the possibility of a damaged bridge leaves the way forward in doubt. A crash adds to the day’s difficulties, and at several points the rider is unsure whether he will get through or where he will spend the night. The film follows this unsettled stretch of the southbound trip without losing sight of the landscape and the demands of adventure riding in the Andes.
What to expect
- A GPX-track ride in Peru, with a potentially damaged bridge ahead.
- Andean passes above 4,500 metres, snow and freezing temperatures.
