FILM
JAPANESE AFRICA TWIN in VALPARAISO CHILE – ep27
EDITORIAL SUMMARY
In this episode of Pedro Mota’s motorcycle journey, a familiar rider arrives in Chile with a well-travelled Honda Africa Twin. Their reunion around Valparaíso brings together memories of earlier travels and the next stage of a ride through South America.
About this film
Yoshi and Mota first met while riding in Japan in 2014, when Mota stayed with him for a week. Yoshi has since resumed riding, travelling from Central Asia to Europe before sending his motorcycle from Hamburg to Chile by boat. The Africa Twin’s stickers reflect its travels across many parts of the world. Mota, who rides a Honda Transalp, presents the meeting as part of his own ongoing motorcycle journey, featured in the series “America – Patagonia to Alaska.”
The journey
After Yoshi’s motorcycle reaches Valparaíso, Mota goes to meet him in nearby Viña del Mar. Over several days, they meet again, get their bikes sorted in Valparaíso and share a ride before saying goodbye. Yoshi is preparing to travel north through South America towards Alaska with his girlfriend, who rides a Honda XR250. The episode centres on the reunion and the transition from the motorcycle’s ocean crossing to travel on the road in Chile.
What to expect
- A reunion shaped by earlier motorcycle travels in Japan
- Yoshi’s sticker-covered Honda Africa Twin in Valparaíso
