Moments like THIS Make it all WORTH IT – Solo Motorcycle USA Trip

As the Magpie Flies 20:08 July 2022

EDITORIAL SUMMARY

This instalment follows a solo motorcycle journey through Texas and New Mexico, spanning three days on the road. It is episode twelve of a fourteen-part trip across the United States, with the route taking in cafés, a state park, public-land camping and Carlsbad Caverns National Park.

About this film

As the Magpie Flies documents the journey on a 2016 Honda CB500X. The film covers the mornings of days 25, 26 and 27, filmed from March 29 to 31, 2022. Its stops and riding days give the episode a travel-diary shape: meals along the way sit alongside visits to protected landscapes and an overnight camp. The Texas windstorm is one of the day’s events, before the journey continues into New Mexico.

The journey

In Texas, the itinerary includes lunch at Twisted Root and an encounter with a windstorm. The following morning begins at Pecos River Cafe, followed by a visit to Living Desert Zoo & Gardens State Park in New Mexico and camping on Bureau of Land Management land. On day 27, the rider visits Carlsbad Caverns National Park, then returns to the mountains before spending the night in Alamogordo. Together, these stops trace a varied passage across the two states, from roadside breaks to parkland and a city overnight.
