FILM
Peruvian Traffic Finally Caught Me Out! | S3 EP34
EDITORIAL SUMMARY
This episode follows a southbound ride through Peru, from Cusco toward Arequipa, as part of a round-the-world motorcycle journey. A collision in Arequipa’s traffic interrupts the ride, before the route continues into the desert roads of southern Peru.
About this film
ADVcharlie rides a modified KTM 790 Adventure S on this instalment of the journey. The film’s route links high, remote stretches of road with the busy approach to Arequipa, where a small truck pulls out and hits the motorcycle. The account then shifts to the aftermath: the rider gets settled in the city, checks the bike and has its rear tyre changed before setting off again. The incident is part of the travel narrative, alongside the practical work needed to continue the ride.
The journey
The ride begins in Cusco and heads south toward Arequipa, at an altitude of nearly 4,700 metres. The early stretch is described as fairly straightforward, with long, straight roads and little traffic or activity. That changes on reaching vehicles entering Arequipa: after the truck strikes the bike, the rider bounces into stationary traffic, but escapes without serious harm to himself or the motorcycle. Following the checks and rear-tyre change in the city, he leaves Arequipa for the desert roads of southern Peru. The planned route points toward the meeting point of Peru, Chile and Bolivia, and the next stage brings Bolivia into view on the horizon.
