Part of onherbike’s Africa, Round The World series, the film comes from a journey that began when its creator left Australia in April 2017 on a BMW F800GS. The trip was planned as a solo circuit of the world without a fixed final destination or duration. In this episode, the focus is on exploring the area around Swakopmund and enjoying a restorative stay. Local hospitality, good food and nearby excursions shape these days of the journey. The episode was recorded in June 2021.
The journey
Cape Cross Seal Colony is one of the stops, noted for its Cape Fur Seals and their breeding grounds. In Swakopmund, local riders Peter and Nicoleen welcome the traveller and take her on a short trip to Goanikontes, described as a resort in the desert. The episode brings together coastal wildlife, a desert-side destination and time spent in town. Its emphasis is on exploring the surroundings and taking a pause within the wider round-the-world journey.
