About this film
Part of Got2Go’s motorcycle journey from Switzerland to Nordkapp, this episode places the ride through Sweden alongside a search for the grave of the rider’s travel partner’s grandfather. The route brings together medieval and Renaissance history with time beside one of Sweden’s largest lakes. The film also includes a motorcycle problem: an important part goes missing during the day, becoming a thread in the visit to Vadstena. The episode features Vadstena Castle and the restaurant Hörnet.
The journey
The day begins with an early departure from Gothenburg. The riders go to Torpa Stenhus, a well-preserved medieval castle near Lake Åsunden in Västra Götaland, while looking for the family grave. After finding it, they make a short ride to Lake Vättern. The lake spans parts of Östergötland, Västergötland, Närke and Småland. From there, the trip brings them to Vadstena, a town on the lake’s shores, and its Renaissance castle, Vadstena Slott. The missing motorcycle part is discovered during the outing, adding a practical complication to a route otherwise shaped by the search and its historical stops.
